The rupiah closes stronger at Rp16,829 per United States dollar in todays afternoon trade on Friday, April 25, 2025. The rupiah strengthens by 43 points from the previous close at Rp16,872.

Meanwhile, currency analyst Ibrahim Assuaibi predicts that the rupiah will fluctuate but close stronger in the range of Rp16,780-Rp16,830 next Monday.

The Director of PT Laba Forexindo Berjangka says that the US Dollar weakened partly due to the markets lack of enthusiasm with various signals in trade negotiations. US President Donald Trump claimed his government was in dialogue with China, while Beijing said that no trade talks had taken place, says Ibrahim in a written statement on Friday, April 25.

Another factor, according to Ibrahim, is the prospect of a more aggressive policy easing from the US central bank, The Federal Reserve (The Fed). Ibrahim believes there is a possibility that The Fed will cut interest rates in June if the recession signal grows stronger.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim says that the signals from Bank Indonesia to lower the benchmark interest rate are one of the internal factors that boost the rupiah. The current benchmark interest rate is at 5.75 percent.

According to Ibrahim, Bank Indonesia is currently strategizing the stabilization of the rupiah value, especially through non-deliverable forward (NDF) transaction interventions in foreign and domestic markets. This policy response has produced positive results reflected in the movement of the rupiah, which has been controlled, stable, and even tends to strengthen, he said.
