Rupiah Traded at Rp13,290 per US Dollar This Morning
The rupiah was trading stronger to Rp13,290 from Rp13,318 per US dollar. Samual Sekuritas Economist Rangga Cipta said in Jakarta that US dollar has weakened following The Feds pessimistic view of the economy. Pessimism is reflected in The Fed Open Market Committee (FOMC) decision to keep interest rates at around 1-1.25 percent, he said. He added that Indonesia’s annual inflation rate, that is expected to fall below 4 percent in July, and lower demand in the previous month help strengthen the rupiah against the greenback. The room for rupiah gains against US dollar is still there, he said. On the other hand, rising crude prices also support commodity-based currencies, such as the rupiah, he said. WTI crude was trading at 49.00 US dollars per barrel and Brent crude was at 51.43 US dollars per barrel. Source: Temp.Co Jul 29, 2017
